![]() Pro Evolution Soccer 2011Ĭontent-wise, this is one of the best of the PSP series. Yet, this game is so good that most end up not even caring about those two blatant issues, myself included: it’s one of the best football simulations I’ve ever played.Īdditionally, PES’ editing community is still updating this version, as the wonderful Laziale option files perfectly showcase – admittedly one of the most competent retro-PES mods around -, which makes PES2008 PSP one of the most edited PES PSP titles ever, alongside the likes of PES2014. ![]() However, the game has potentially game-breaking flaws: there is sometimes a slight slowdown (lag) when there are too many players on the screen at the same time – for example, on a crowded box after a corner kick - plus, there is only one stadium in it: Blautraum Stadion, which I’ll never forget after many hundreds of consecutive matches there. This is undoubtedly the best PES on the PSP strictly regarding the quality of the football simulation itself. The gameplay is probably even tougher than its PS2 counterpart for how it increases its typical PES5-like grittiness and unpredictability. If the PS2 version is already pretty much a hidden gem, even fewer people know about the brilliance of the PSP PES2008 version. The Libero has covered the PS2 version of this title: it is indeed a lost game, one of the undisputed classics of the series which is only now being discovered, for most were busy playing (or…ignoring) the lackluster new-gen, PS title. These are the three versions that the football fan should consider before committing to some handheld football action. While we’ll certainly write about the whole story in detail one of these days, for now, we’ll just pick three out of the PES PSP collection: three titles that not only showcase Pro Evo’s footballing proficiency also on this portable console, but also perfectly demonstrate how the series evolved over time on the PSP. Sony’s handheld, the PlayStation Portable, was home to a few of the best football games ever released, thanks to Konami’s admirable effort in reproducing the main game (PS2 PES) on the portable console.įrom PES5 to PES2014, each PS2 PES iteration was also released on the PSP and though none reinvented the virtual football wheel – in fact, they were almost totally just ports of the main game, carbon copies of each’s “big brother” – each has its own particular untold story, for sadly PES on the PSP went by mostly unnoticed throughout the years. Curiously, few were and still are aware of the fact that that domination was not exclusive of the PS2 console. ![]() ![]() Pro Evolution games achieved complete and utter domination over all of its rivals on the PS2-era of football games. ![]()
